The Doc Wick Foundation is delighted to present the Louise McCall painting “Moon Peace” to the Cape May Point Arts and Science Center for donation. Louise McCall was a notable Folk Art artist. She conceived of this piece as an earthbound complement to the work done by her husband, Bob McCall, on the Apollo and Space Shuttle Programs. The painting is an expansive 71 x 71inches in size and dates to the early 2000s. It has a moon in the center with flowers around it. The combination of art & science seems fitting for the Cape May Point Arts & Science center.

Dr. Wiechetek (Doc for short) had an extensive personal relationship with Louise & Bob McCall and was a consistent patron and sponsor of both artists. His main interest was the work that Bob McCall created focused on space. The Foundation has, in it’s collection, a significant number of original works from Bob McCall. However, Doc was an avid gardener and was drawn to “Moon Peace” when he saw it. He purchased it and had it shipped from Arizona to his personal home in Bayonne, NJ where it hung until his passing. This painting is one of a kind and has never before been shown in public.

Installation: It is the Foundation’s hope that the Cape May Point Arts and Science Center will determine a suitable location for the painting. The Foundation will assist with funding for any restoration work and fund an information plaque. We look forward to working together with the Science Center on those initiatives.
